The Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences was founded in 1986 as a private non-profit research organization. The mission of the ICCR is to produce high-quality interdisciplinary research on Europe by carrying out policy relevant research with a network of partner organizations.
The ICCR specializes in strategic policy analysis using applied, multi-disciplinary and comparative research with Europe defining the geographical scope. The ICCR has four thematic research programmes: (1) Society, Technology and Research, (2) Environment and Sustainability, (3) Social Policy Analysis - Social Structures and Integration and (4) Transport Policy Analysis and Evaluation. A fifth research area 'European Developments: Policies and Politics' operates as a think-tank on the basis of the integration of research results from the four thematic programmes.

The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) is one of the world's leading inter-disciplinary groups involved in teaching and research in transport studies and is the focus for the transport research interests of all departments of the University of Leeds. The Institute's aim is to advance the understanding of transport systems throughout the world, by teaching and research activities which develop the necessary skills and best practice in the planning, design, operation, and use of transport systems. ITS secured a 5* rating, the highest rank, in the most recent UK Research Assessment Exercise in 2001, maintaining the top ranking it achieved in the 1996 and 1992 assessments, and was the first academic unit in Britain to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation for research activities.

TIS.pt stands for “Transport, Innovation and Systems” and corresponds to the company’s mission and to its expertise that has been continuously developed since the foundation of this Portuguese company in 1992. The project experience covers all transport modes (road, rail, air and maritime) and key cross-modal issues such as: policy, regulation, contracting, quality and performance evaluation, commercial strategy, network concept and dimensioning. Other areas of activity include road network analysis and circulation plans, traffic studies for infrastructure franchises, traffic management and signalling.

Nouveaux espaces de transport en Europe

NESTEAR is a private company founded by researchers of INRETS, in the framework of the new French law from 1999 to support “innovation and research”. NESTEAR’s main objective is to apply and disseminate research results in the field of transport evaluation. An “agreement” between NESTEAR and INRETS gives NESTEAR access to research results and brings back to INRETS experiences of applications. NESTEAR’s staff has 15 years of experience in European transport research through many studies and research projects.
